San Andres ready for Asian motocross

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - JBS-Kawasaki Motocross Team’s Kenneth San Andres re-staked his claim as one of the world’s top riders when he turned in a fourth place finish in the Cheongsong International Motorcycle Championships in Cheongsong, Korea recently.

San Andres pitted guts and skills against riders from Asia, the Middle East and the United States in the top international tournament ruled by Japan’s Yoshiki Kitai.

Mongolia’s Erdenebileg Khaliunbold finished second while Thailand’s Atison Raudero nipped San Andres for third place honors.

San Andres actually went toe-to-toe against the Thai rider but took a spill midway through the race, enabling Raudero and several other riders to break away.

The Valenzuela native, however, never gave up and chased the frontrunners, overtook four others but ran out of time to catch up with the Thai.

“It has been a good experience riding against the world’s best. This will serve me in good stead in the coming Asian motocross tournament in the middle of the month,” said San Andres.

The National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (NAMSSA), led by its president Macky Carapiet, will play host to the next leg of the Asian FIM tournament on Nov. 15 and 16 at the Speedworld Motocross Circuit, SM Bicutan.
