STARmen shoot for title vs Nougat

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine STAR and Nougat clash in the finale of the Passion Basketball League at 7 p.m . tonight at the Cloverleaf Gym in Guadalupe.

Former Air21 Express Niño Marquez and ex-collegiate mainstays Raymond Maconocido, Gio Coquilla and Dennis Rodriguez spearhead the Starmen’s bid against the unbeaten Nougat squad led by former San Miguel Beer player Arnold Gamboa.

Nougat edged The STAR, 92-90, in their elimination-round match.

Marquez erupted for 34 points while Maconocido added 17 as the Starmen ripped Acquire, 79-62, Thursday.

Lester Reyes, Randel Reducto, Cris Corbin, Vher Roque, Jesse Bustos, Gerald Ortega, Mario Geocada, Bong Martinez and Niño Sangalang are the other Starmen under coaches Alfred Bartolome and Rene Recto, and team manager Mike Maneze.
