MANILA, Philippines - Barangay Ginebra continues to get younger as the Kings acquired sophomore playmaker Emman Monfort from Barako Bull for veteran guard Rob Labagala.
The one-on-one swap was approved Thursday.
The 5-6 Monfort proved that he belongs in the league after taking the reins of the injury-riddled Energy backcourt starting in the last Commissioner's Cup.
The 16th overall pick averaged nine points and five assists and had a career-high of 25 markers, curiously against the Kings.
In Ginebra, Monfort will join fellow Atenean LA Tenorio at the backcourt.
Labagala, meanwhile, will provide veteran leadership to the rebuilding Barako Bull, which will pick a couple or even a trio of crack guards from the amateur ranks in the coming PBA Rookie Draft.
