MANILA, Philippines -- The record 85 rookie hopefuls in the coming PBA Annual Draft take the spotlight Monday when the league conducts its traditional biometrics.
The event is set at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong from 8 a.m. to 12 noon coinciding with the Barangay elections.
All rookie applicants from high-profiled Greg Slaughter to little-known Regilito Malinao will be required to go through a series of workouts to specifically measure their skills and test their athleticism.
Following the players’ registration, the rookies are going to be measured individually according to height, weight, and wing span.
After which they will be obliged to do several workouts ranging from bench press, pull ups, sit ups, push ups, and vertical leap.
Head of referees Boy Cruz will conduct the event.
The biometrics comes barely a week before the league holds its 2013 Draft at Robinson’s Place in Ermita.
Barangay Ginebra owns the year’s no. 1 overall pick followed by San Mig Coffee, Rain or Shine, Barako Bull (from 4th to 6th), Globalport, Alaska, Rain or Shine, and San Mig Coffee.
The Annual Draft serves as the league’s first official event ushering its 39thseason.
