Kidapawan hosts Palawan tennis tourney

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Action in the Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala presented by Babolat tennis tournament shifts back to Mindanao beginning today at the Kidapawan City Tennis Club in Kidapawan City in Cotabato.

KCTC president Ronald Barrios waived the registration fee to encourage the city’s young players and those from the nearby towns and provinces to play in a ranking tournament.

“We thank the host club for opening the event to everybody. We hope to encourage more players, especially the youth, to go into sports, particularly tennis, where we hope to produce more talents,” said Philta president and Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez.

For details, contact Philta referee Bobby Mangunay at 0915-4046464.

Events on tap in the 19th leg of the circuit are the 10-unisex, and the boys and girls’ 12-U, 14-U, 16-U and 18-U categories.

The four-day event ending Monday serves as the 21st leg of the nation-wide, year-long circuit put up by Palawan Pawnshop headed by COO Bobby Castro and Babolat through Technosports president Guillermo Nocom.

“We have invited our local players and those from the nearby towns and provinces to join this tournament for exposure. We hope to host more of this in the region,” said Barrios.
