La Salle pads lead in interschool jungolf

MANILA, Philippines - Eric Gallardo led scoring for the third straight time as La Salle-Taft made its biggest gain on rival Ateneo with a 154-point output in the Seniors Division of the ICTSI-JGFP Inter-School Golf Championships in various venues recently,

Gallardo turned in his best score in three rounds of one-under-par 71 for 55 points at the Ayala Greenfield Golf and Leisure Club, joining hands with Alan Bumagat (51) and Inigo Raymundo (48) to overpower the Ateneo side and pull away by 42 points at the resumption of the multi-division series organized by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines and backed chiefly by the International Container Terminal Services, Inc. 

The La Sallians have a 457 aggregate following their best combined effort of 154 in three rounds, leaving behind Ateneo, who posted a measly 121 as Jama Reyes hobbled for form and just contributed 37. Miguel Shah and Julius Neri made 43 and 41, respectively, for Ateneo which stood at 415.

La Salle-Zobel also pulled away in the Midgets 2 division of the tourney also sponsored by the Pancake House Group, Sizzlin’ Pepper, Yellow Cab, McDonald’s and Phl Golf Foundation.

Miguel Ilas and Jolo Magcalayo carded 54 and 53, respectively, for La Salle-Zobel which added 18 more to its already huge lead over another Ateneo team. With their 107 for the day and 241 for the tournament, the DLSZ kids zoomed ahead by 28 points over Ateneo which had 85 for 201.
