Fortuna 4 off in Malaysia

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Mika Fortuna wavered at the back and hobbled with a 75, falling behind by four to Malaysia’s Michelle Koh at the start of the 41st Selangor Amateur Open at the Kelab Raman Putra Course in Malaysia Tuesday.

Fortuna turned in one-birdie, one-bogey stint at the front but the top ICTSI-backed bet faltered coming home, fumbling with three bogeys for a 36-39 card at the par-72 layout to drop to joint third with local ace Diane Luke.

Koh played steady throughout, hitting one birdie for a one-under 71 and a three-stroke lead over compatriot Nur Durriayah, who carded a 74 as Sofia Chabon shot a 76 and stood five shots off the pace while ICTSI teammates and Junior World champion Pauline del Rosario skied to 80 and Abegail Arevalo limped with an 84.

Princess Superal, the reigning Singapore Am champion, skipped the event in preparation for a big tournament in Thailand next week.
