MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Swim League has a new chairman in a broadcast and print media practitioner and businessman who is currently member of the board of directors of San Miguel Corp. (Hong Kong) and honorary consul of Georgia in the Philippines.
Buddy Cunanan, a graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University where he also earned his Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA), was named to the position in a meeting of the PSL board, said PSL president Susan Papa.
“We welcome Mr. Cunanan to the PSL organization. We have gained huge strides in Philippine swimming with our regular monthly and international competitions as well as our continuing grassroots program and we believe we can further strengthen the organization and expand its reach with his expertise,†said Papa.
Cunanan, who also speaks German and Cambodian, has a wide range of interests as a business entrepreneur, amateur aviator (micro-light pilot, certified in Southern Africa), safari and wildlife enthusiast, sportsman, businessman, and event and TV host.
He is currently consultant for international affairs of the National Parks Development Committee, TV host for the Global News Network (GNN), columnist of the Manila Times, consultant for Africa of International Container Terminal Services, Inc., special adviser of the Somali Petroleum Corp. and presidentof the Philippines–Somalia Business and Friendship Association, Inc.
From January 2009 to December 2010, Cunanan was consultant for international relations of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). In this capacity, he was instrumental in fostering strong relationships between the NCCA and Germany, Russia, South Korea, Brazil, Finland, Iran, Taiwan, China, Georgia, India, South Africa, Bangladesh, Argentina, among others.
