MANILA, Philippines -- DLSU star Jeron Teng is happy for his older brother Jeric Teng after UST completed their upset of NU last Saturday to barge into the Finals forging a match-up between the Green Archers and the Growling Tigers.
"Happy ako kasi yun ang last wish ng brother ko before he ends his college career na makaabot siya ng finals at the same time yung dream na kami magkalaban sa finals," said Jeron, last season's Rookie of the Year.
Jeric Teng is already in his final year of duty for the Espana-based squad as the team captain of UST and his younger brother was in the venue in full support with his family.
"Sinabi ko lang, give his all dapat wala ng reserba sa game kasi this might be his last game," said Jeron, when asked what he told his brother before the game.
Jeron also shared his view on the Tigers who also played in the Finals of the UAAP last year against eventual champions Ateneo Blue Eagles.
"The team (UST) was very composed from what I saw, they were making their outside shots and their defense was very solid," said Jeron, after the game, which UST won 76-69 against first-seeded National University.
Despite their family connection, Jeron declared that they are serious in gunning for the championship and plans to give his best despite facing his older brother.
"Wala di muna kami mag uusap, di naman ako uuwi sa bahay baka "ma-kuya" ako," Jeron, jokingly said.
