Sta. Lucia Tour unfurls in two Davao courses
MANILA, Philippines - A new season of the Sta. Lucia Golf Tour unwraps next month with members of exclusive golf clubs under the umbrella of premier real estate developer Sta. Lucia Land expected to vie for top honors in competitive but friendly atmosphere.
Orchard, Eagle Ridge, Alta Vista, Caliraya Springs, Summit Point, Beverly Place, Royale Tagaytay, Lakewood and Rancho Palos Verdes are tipped to be represented in the first of two legs that will be held in Davao City for SLGT’s Mindanao swing on Oct. 3-5.
To add spice to the competition, the tough Apo Golf Club has been added as a co-host with Rancho Palos Verdes for the opening leg of the series that was recently launched by Sta. Lucia president Exequiel Robles and chairman Vicente Santos together with other company officials and representatives of their joint venture partners.
From Davao, the Tour proceeds to Eagle Ridge for the Manila leg on Nov. 7-9.
For this year’s edition, the SLGT committee has also decided to revert to the four-man team modified Stableford (four-to-play, three-to-count) by popular demand, according to Santos.
“The return to the Modified Stableford is expected to once again fuel the friendly rivalry among the participating golf clubs,†said Santos, concurrent SLGT organizing committee chair.
Robles, for his part, said that in more ways than one, the SLGT is a form of appreciation for the loyalty members of Sta. Lucia clubs have been giving to their respective clubs.
“For 13 years now, the Sta. Lucia Golf Tour has been the paramount golfing event for the Sta. Lucia golf clubs, encouraging member participation and healthy competition among the clubs. It has proven to be an excellent way to showcase Sta. Lucia’s world-class golf facilities,†said Robles.
Each team is required to have at least one member of a participating Sta. Lucia golf club. To register, teams must submit completed registration forms and full payment at their club’s sports or golf office.
Entry fees are inclusive of airfare and hotel accommodations (for Davao leg), event uniforms, four 18-hole rounds, two practice rounds, snacks, use of golf carts during tournament dates, and souvenir items.
