MANILA, Philippines - S-Oil Racer Peter Kim guns for a sweep to push his quest for the overall plum today in the fifth and penultimate leg of the 2013 Philipppine Grand Touring Car Championship at the Batangas Racing Circuit.
Winning both the Sprint and GT main races will give Kim the needed points to wrest solo leadership and gain the advantage going to the championship leg aboard his Hyundai Genesis powered by the optimum performance formula of S-Oil, Korea’s No. 1 Super Oil, with the huge support of Eurostandard and Bridgestone under Tuason Racing.
The S-Oil racer, who’s fresh from a prestigious car race in South Korea, is just trailing by six points as he now tallies 134 points, and winning the last two rounds of this series will be crucial in clinching his first ever career milestone – Grand Touring Driver of the Year.
“We’re preparing hard for the final two legs and my stints in the South Korean Car Championship were good learning experiences that will help boost our bid for the title,†said Kim.
He lost grip of solo lead as he ended runner-up in the sprint race and third in the GT Main race in the last leg. Despite that, he remains in strong contention as he hopes the situation turns in his favor in the last two legs.
“We’ll try to trim or even erase that three-second difference against our rival and hopefully, our mechanics and crew will finally find the right setup for our Hyundai Genesis to put up a more competitive fight in the last two legs,†said Kim.
“We’re still within striking distance and anything can still happen. We’re still optimistic on our chances for the crown with the quality performance of S-Oil and the inspiring support of the crowd,†he added.
Kim brought in S-Oil to help boost the development of Philippine motorsports. S-Oil is the pioneer petroleum corporation in Korea, more known for its S-Oil SSU.
