MANILA, Philippines - MOB outgunned Skyforce in a duel of unbeaten teams, hacking out a 98-94 victory in the Danny Espiritu Cup basketball tournament at Lyceum gym in Manila last Wednesday.
MOB led by eight, 75-67, early in the fourth only to reel back as Skyforce rallied to wrest a five-point lead, 86-81, with two and half minutes to play.
But MOB regrouped and closed out with 15-4 run, spiked by three triples and free throw shooting, to clinch the win and remain the lone unbeaten team with five wins.
Jopher Custodio and Jeff Viernes combined for 59 points on 13 triples for MOB, with the latter scoring 10 markers down the stretch.
Skyforce, which has also tabbed ex-pros Chester Tolomia and Marlon Basco, drew double digit outputs from five players but still fell short of its bid in the end, dropping to 5-1.
