MANILA, Philippines - Top imported gallopers fight it out for the top P300,000 purse in the Jockey Elias “Eleng†Ordiales Race today at the MetroTurf in Malvar, Batangas.
Crucis has been picked as the slight favorite in the 2,000-meter race, which includes Botbo, Close To Hallie, Juggling Act, Nefertiti, Sliotar and Tritanic.
The P500,000 event, the fifth leg of the 2013 Philracom Imported-Local Challenge Series, also serves as a tribute to the original “El Maestro of the Philippine horseracing industry.â€
Jockey Elias Ordiales dominated his peers for several decades. Among his known feats was his partnership with Sun God, the horse owned by Don Pedro Cojuangco, that ruled the local racing scene in the early 70s.
Jockey Elias also posted the first local Triple Crown Series victory when he steered Native Gift in the first two legs of the series in 1974.
