St. Clare enters NAASCU final
MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion Saint Clare College of Caloocan claimed the second and last finals berth of the 13th National Athletic Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities basketball tournament by ousting Our Lady of Fatima University, 75-66, yesterday at the Makati Coliseum.
The Saints will now face the undefeated Centro Escolar University Scorpions in a best-of-three series beginning Monday at the same venue.
With the whole team together with coach Jino Manansala shaving their heads as a show of unity, the Saints led all the way from the opening tip but experienced a few scares before putting away the tough Phoenix team.
Marte Gil finished with 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists while Bong Managuelod backed him up with 18.
