The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Highlands Ladies Cup fires off Oct. 19 with a promise of another spirited but friendly battle for top honors among the country’s leading golfing ladies and their guests from various sectors at Tagaytay Midlands Golf and Country Club in Tagaytay.

Marissa Romano shot a net 71 then nipped Carina Ricamonte in the countback to capture last year’s ladies crown with the same down-to-the-wire finish expected in the eighth staging of the annual event sponsored by CATS Motors, exclusive distributor of Mercedes-Benz in the country, Baron Travel Corp., Security Bank and W Group.

Organized by the Tagaytay Highlands Ladies Chapter, headed by tournament co-chairs Dionne Cu and Connie Mamaril, the 18-hole tournament will have a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. with around 200 players expected to see action in the annual event to be played under the System 36 scoring format.

Fabulous prizes will be up for grabs in various categories of the tournament, also held to foster camaraderie among the country’s top golfing lady executives and corporate bigwigs as well as their guests in the government and private sectors.

Other events on tap are the men’s Classes A, B and C competitions and seniors category.

Felix Ang, president of CATS Motors, Willie Ocier, vice-chairman of Belle Corp., and Sandy Prieto-Romualdez, chair of sponsorship committee and Highlands sports captain, are expected to hit the ceremonial drives to kick off the tournament which also serves as a fund-raiser for THLC’s charity mission.
