MANILA, Philippines - Former Asian Supercross champion Glenn Aguilar leads the cast of riders seeing action in the first of the five-leg 2013 Phoenix Motocross Series that roars off at the Messiah Fairgrounds, Club Manila East in Taytay Rizal on Sept. 22.
Enzo Rellosa, Jacob Orbe, and rising Mindanao motocross star Bornok Manosong are expected to crowd Aguilar for top honors in the premier Pro Open Category of the event presented by Xtreme Adrenaline Sports Entertainment Co. (XAS) headed by Chief Executive Officer Samuel Mark Tamayo.
Winner in the centerpiece event will get to take home the top prize of P15,000, while runner-up gets P12,000, and third place P10,000, according to Tamayo, who was a guest in yesterday’s PSA Forum at Shakey’s Malate.
Other pro categories at stake are lites production, local enduro, and underbone, while amateur categories include open production, ladies category, kids sr 85cc, kids jr 65cc, executive open production, and veterans open production.
Pro local and pro underbone champions will receive P5,000, while amateur category winners will also bring home cash prizes and trophies.
Tamayo was accompanied in the forum presented by the Philippine Amusements and Gaming Corporation and Shakeys by Messiah Fairgrounds representative Ezekiel Tamayo and PPPI national sales manager-lubricants Desi Enrico Maala and PPPI trade marketing officer-lubricants Lea Macabenta.
He said XAS has also set a RXP category for race experience where beginner riders may compete in separate event for open production, local endure, and underbone.
After the first leg, the series resumes on Sept. 29 and then Oct. 13, before it culminates with the final two races on Nov. 3 and 10, respectively.
