MANILA, Philippines - Matt Bonner of the San Antonio Spurs is coming over this weekend to grace the NBA Fit and NBA Cares programs, becoming the latest of a number of NBA players to visit the country in recent months.
“The Red Rocket, Matt Bonner of the San Antonio Spurs and NBA Champion will be visiting our shores for #NBACares & #NBAFITPH,†said NBA Asia country manager Carlo Singson on his Twitter account yesterday.
Bonner will attend an NBA Cares event, a social arm of NBA and held in partnership with Sun Life Financial, at the Manila Boys Town Complex tomorrow where he will interact with orphans and homeless children and teenagers.
Known as the “Red Mamba†for his red hair and shooting skills, Bonner will also be part of the NBA Fit Phl this weekend at the Mall of Asia complex in Pasay City.
Bonner, who won a championship with the Spurs in 2007 and was the league’s three-point field goal percentage leader two years ago, will thus join the list of NBA players who have visited the country, among them Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, James Harden and Eric Gordon.
More NBA players are set to visit the country in the next few months with former NBA MVP Derrick Rose, courtesy of adidas, set to arrive next month and the whole Indiana Pacers and Houston Rockets teams clashing in the NBA pre-season game set Oct. 10 at the MOA Arena.
