Olea gains S’woods’ seniors title over Park

MANILA, Philippines - Raul Olea fired a gross 76 for a net 66 and nipped Brian Park in the countback to capture the Class A crown in the Seniors Trimester Birthday Bash golf tournament sponsored by Brainmaster at the Manila Southwoods’ Legends Course in Carmona, Cavite recently.

Park, also a 10 handicapper, matched Olea’s four-over gross card for a similar net 66 but Olea took the crown with a better score of 36 in the last nine holes.

Rolly Sacramento, a 20 handicapper, shot a net 64 from a gross 84 to beat Mar Naval by one and bag the Class B plum in the 18-hole tournament for senior chapter members and guests aged 55 years old and above and organized by Southwoods’ Seniors Chapter, headed by president Jose Cedo and vice president/tournament chairman, Paco Gonzalez.

Naval made a gross 79 for a net 65.

Jose de Leon carded a gross 94 for a net 68 then edged Ding Roco in the countback to clinch the Class C title in the event backed by Brainmaster and hole-in-one sponsor Yamaha by Kart Plaza. Roco, a 31 handicapper, turned in a gross 99.

Jose Cedo re-stamped his class in the Super Seniors category, scoring a gross 88 for a net 67 and a seven-shot romp over Rod Pepito, who had a net 74 from a gross 104, in the event reset to Aug. 29 due to Typhoon Maring and Habagat.
