La Salle paces ICTSI-JGFP inter-school

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - La Salle unleashed its firepower early and grabbed the lead at the start of the juniors and seniors division competitions played under inclement weather recently in the ICTSI-JGFP Inter-School Golf Championships in various venues.

La Salle Greenhills, out to atone for a struggling performance the last time out, aggregated 119 points for a huge 21-point lead in the Juniors play at the Valley executive course which was reduced to just 13 holes after rains spawned by Habagat and storm Maring rendered the course unplayable.

AR Ramos and Luigi Guerrero fired 40 points each and Miggy Yee delivered 39 as the Greenies outclassed Xavier which made 98, La Salle Zobel (92), Ateneo (90) and La Salle Greenhills (86) in the Juniors action for high school players.

Over at Aguinaldo, Eric Gallardo sparkled with 53 as La Salle-Taft opened its campaign with an eight-point lead over archrival Ateneo in college play of the event backed by the International Container Terminal Services, Inc

Other sponsors supporting the three-month series organized by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines are Pancake House Group, Sizzlin’ Pepper, Teriyaki Boy, Philippine Golf Foundation, Pacsports, Golf Depot and McDonald’s.

Gallardo got support from Inigo Raymundo who had 50 points and Alan Bumagat who made 48. The short-handed La Salle crew, lacking two players, managed to come out on top over Ateneo which was led by Jama Reyes with 51.

Guerrero and Ramos shared the individual  lead with Ryan Monsalve, also from LSGH but playing as an individual, one up on Raymart Tolentino of MSI and Yee.

Gallardo was two points ahead of Reyes and three up on Raymundo in college individual play.
