AUTSRacing karters show stuff

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - AUTSRacing Team flashed top form behind the stellar performance of its karters who hauled three champion trophies and two runner-up finishes recently in the Enchanted Kingdom leg of the 2013 Coca-Cola Karting Super Series at the EK Kart Track in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

It was a complete turnaround from the lackluster show at Boomland, as Carl Luig and young Brian Thorp  delivered the two big wins for AUTSRacing Team powered by Kipling‘s, Birel  Competition Karts, Yamaha Winforce, FILA, Maynilad Water Services, Tune Hotels, Team Insider Boxing Gym, Kart Care Lubricants and FreeLine Go Kart Parts.

Luig, whose absence sorely affected the team in the last leg, started the onslaught by winning the Formula SL Expert plum, tagging along ace female karter Yvana Carangan for the runner-up crown.

AUTSRacing head coach Indy Villalon delivered the third crown when he emerged SQ Expert champion.

With their feat, Luig remains in strong second with 248 points with Carangan firming up her grip of the top spot in the Formula SL Expert class with a wide lead with 354 points.

Thorp, on the other hand, showed marked improvement running only for the second time in the ROK division where he emerged the ROK Clubman champion and clinched the runner-up honors in the ROK Junior class.

Young Bobby Redpath also bagged third runner-up honors in the Formula Cadet Novice division.

Luig came unstoppable as he topped the qualifying heat, the pre-final and the 26-lap final race which he completed in 17 minutes, 51.686 seconds or a far 11 second-gap from the rest of the pack.
