Notre Dame, CKSC gain in SBP-Passerelle

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Notre Dame of Greater Manila fought back from a first half deficit and beat Lourdes School of Quezon City, 49-47, even as Chiang Kai Shek posted the first 100-point output as it clobbered Xavier School-B, 105-46, in the SBP-Passerelle twin basketball at the Xavier School gym last weekend.

The Notre Dame cagers trailed 26-28 at the turn but waxed hot in the second half behind Adrian Joaquin Lopez and John Levi Buenaflor, who scored 10 points each and combined for nine rebounds to power the team to victory in Passerelle Group D.

The win moved Chiang Kai Shek to second with a 2-1 card behind idle and undefeated Ateneo-A, which swept its first three games in the event organized by BEST Center and sponsored by Milo and RCBC Savings Bank.

Notre Dame scored a twin kill as its SBP counterpart beat La Salle Greenhills Team B, 35-32, to tie its victim on top of Division D at 2-1, the same slate of Lourdes School of Mandaluyong, which edged La Salle Greenhills, 35-32.

Ateneo Team A posted its third consecutive win by routing Don Bosco Makati, 65-31, in SBP-B.

University of Santo Tomas likewise notched its third straight win with a 54-23 trashing of La Salle Zobel B, matching the record of fellow unbeaten Don Bosco Makati, which earlier beat School of St. Anthony, 55-45, to share the lead in Passerelle-C.

La Salle Team B averted a shutout by thumping Christian World Academy, 67-34, in Passerelle Division B.
