MANILA, Philippines - Only one team will remain winless after today’s first UNTV Cup games at the Pasig Sports Center in Pasig City.
Early leaders Philippine National Police and PhilHealth stake their clean slate as they clash in the opening game of a triple-header at 2:30 p.m.
Both teams have won their first two games and today’s winner will firm up their drive for the outright semifinals seats to be given to the top two squads after the single round elimination.
The last placer after the one-round robin elimination will be eliminated with the top two teams to advance outright to the Final Four. The next four teams collide in the crossover quarterfinals with the number three and four teams to enjoy twice-to-beat advantage.
Congress-LGU, meanwhile, seeks to rebound from a 73-98 stinging loss at the hands of PhilHealth as it takes on winless Metro Manila Development Authority at 4 p.m. while Judiciary and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) collide in the final game at 5:30 p.m.
Judiciary is coming off a 130-60 thrashing of Department of Justice for their first win in two outings.
They, however, should expect a tough outing against the AFP, which is eyeing to bounce back from a 69-72 heart-breaking defeat to PNP in their last outing.
