San Beda, Lyceum down rivals
MANILA, Philippines - San Beda and Lyceum sustained their top form and rolled to their third straight victories to remain on top of their respective groups in the Fr. Martin Cup Division 2 basketball tournament at the Arellano U gym in Legarda.
Pierre Tankoua tallied 14 points while Daryl Nazareno and Alfred Sedilla tossed in 11 markers each as the Red Lions blasted the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 65-53, for a 4-1 mark in Group B.
Cameroonian Guy Essono shot 24 points as the Pirates smothered San Sebastian Stags, 80-57, to move past the defending champion UE Warriors in Group A.
National University drew 26 points from Alfred Aroga as the Bulldogs cruised past the Angeles University Foundation Great Danes, 86-60, for a 2-1 card in Group B.
In junior play, the Mapua Red Robins, behind Michael Rodriguez’s 15 points, turned back the Jose Rizal University Light Bombers, 64-61.
Jayson Cervantes made 25 points as San Benilde bounced back from two straight defeats with a 75-52 drubbing of Letran.
