Kim sets sights on solo lead, overall plum in Grand Touring

MANILA, Philippines - S-Oil Racer Peter Kim seeks crucial wins in both the sprint and GT main races that will preserve his grip of solo leadership and boost his chances for the overall plum as the 2013 Philipppine Grand Touring Car Championship stages its fourth leg today at the Clark International Speedway.

Kim missed action in the last leg to see action in a South Korean race but still managed to stay on top of the title hunt with the upset triumph of Taysan, Batangas Mayor Dondon Portugal and an unfortunate incident that put Jody Coseteng out the main race.

He gained solo lead as AAP race stewards declared him outright champion of the GT main race in the second leg after Coseteng flunked the dyno test.  However, his current total of 95 points doesn’t give him enough advantage to sustain a strong title bid and he must work harder in the remaining three legs to capture the coveted crown with support  from  S-Oil, Eurostandard and Bridgestone under the management of Tuason Racing.

“Yes, we were lucky to gain solo lead.  But the consequence is, we have to work harder in the coming races to stay on top since good luck doesn’t come always.  We’ll take it one race at a time and our immediate goal for now is to win both the sprint and the GT main races,” said Kim.

Kim hopes to gain the edge with the adjustment done by his crew on his Hyundai Genesis and the optimum performance formula of S-Oil, Korea’s No. 1 super oil.
