Senior golfers hold 8-leg series

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Federation of Philippine Amateur Senior Golfers, Inc. (FPASGI) will hold a Director’s Cup tournament on Aug. 13 at the Villamor Golf Club.

The event serves as part of FPASGI’s eight-leg series, which kicked off with the President’s Cup at the Orchard Golf and Country Club. Other venues of the event are the Veterans Golf Course, Royal Northwoods Golf Club and Valley Golf and Country Club.

Eagle Ridge will host the next tournament in October while the final leg will be held at the Capitol Golf and Country Club.

The group, composed of more than 1,000 members, is headed by former Gen. Melchor Rosales.

“We will seek to honor all senior chapter directors of the 24 affiliated clubs and the FPASGI board and select our final delegates to the ASEAN games and hopefully raise enough funds to support the Philippine Seniors team that will compete in Indonesia,” Rosales said.

The FPASGI is the only senior golf association in the Philippines recognized by the US-based World Senior Golf Association and the Confederation of ASEAN Senior Golfers Association.

Rosales is inviting other golfers to join the tournament.

The FPASGI, meanwhile, will participate in the 30th ASEAN Senior Amateur Golf Championship set Sept. 16-20 at Borobudur Golf and Country Club and Merapi Golf and Country Club, in Jogjakarta, Indonesia.
