MANILA, Philippines - Milkylah Crystal and JJ Gamolo shared top honors after scoring 51 and 50 points, respectively, in the recent ICTSI-JGFP School Season tournament at the hazard-laden Pueblo de Oro Golf and Country Club in Cagayan de Oro.
Crystal emerged the girls overall and Class A champion with her tournament-best score, finishing five points clear of Pamela Mariano and 11 ahead of sister Gabrielle in the 18-hole tournament serving part of the year-round Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines calendar backed by the International Container Terminal Services, Inc.
Gamolo was overall boys and Class A champion, posting a six-point win over Carl Chabon with Nico Canlas coming in third.
The other boys division winners in the tourney also sponsored by Pancake House, Sizzlin’ Pepper, Yellow Cab, Golf Depot and McDonald’s were Jets Sajulga in Class B, Jacky Mabaylan in Class C, Rolando Bregente in Class D while joining Crystal as girls division champions were Rainstar Roque, Martina Miñoza and Marie Aparilla.
Sajulga made 46 under the Molave system of scoring for a comfortable seven-point win over Marlon Santiago while Marc Lu placed third. It was also a blowout win for Mabaylan who wound up 12 and 22 points ahead of Jacob and Ryu Rolida with a 48-point effort while Bregente edged Seong Hwang Hyun by a point (36-35) with Niño Miñoza coming in third at 31.
Roque was virtually unchallenged in her Class B romp, scoring 44 to finish far ahead of Alfa Miñoza and Patricia Paras. It was an all-Miñoza show in Class C, however, with Martina and Almica grabbing the top two slots with a 36 and 17, respectively, while lone Class D entry Marie Aparilla assembled 34 points.
Up next for the jungolfers is the Inter-school series starting next month.
