MANILA, Philippines - Marist School edged School of St. Anthony, 42-41, while defending Passerelle champion La Salle Geeenhills crushed Lourdes School of Mandaluyong, 72-28, last Sunday to post their second wins in as many games in the 28th BEST Passerrelle/SBP Basketball competition sponsored by Milo at Xavier Gym in San Juan.
The Marist dribblers were forced to the limit before they notched their second straight win behind the heroics of Gian Marti Chan and Scan Angeles in SBP Group C. The win came after Marist’s 62-51 win over La Salle Zobel on opening day.
The Greenies, seeking their fourth title under coach under Marvin Bienvenida, decided the game in the first half, 47-11,for their second consecutive win in Passerelle Group A.
Alain Jethro Madrigal and Jose Diego Rodrigo keyed La Salle’s torrid offense with double digits while big men Joshua Marcos and Andrei Magpantay dominated the shaded area as the defending champions preserved their untainted record.
La Salle scored a double whammy as its Zobel counterpart clobbered archrival Ateneo, 47-30, in Group C while St. Mary College whipped Don Bosco Mandaluyong, 35-24, in Group A of SBP.
All the 12 players scored, with Ron Gabriel Reyes topping with 12 points and eight rebounds, as La Salle-Zobel dominated the Katipunan dribblers.
Ateneo walked over Chiang Kai Shek College in Passerelle Group D.
Lourdes School of Quezon City matched its Mandaluyong counterpart’s win by thumping Chang Kai Shek College, 36-24, in SBP Group A.
Don Bosco Makati humbled Southridge Alabang, 53-43, in Group C and University of Santo Tomas whitewashed St. Paul College, 53-34, in Passerelle Group B.
