BOSTON — The Boston Celtics on Monday signed center Vitor Faverani of Brazil and point guard Phil Pressey from Missouri.
Faverani, 25, is a 6-foot-11 center who played last season for Valencia Basket in Spain, where he averaged 9.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.
Pressey is a 5-foot-11 point guard who was a member of the Celtics' summer league roster. He averaged 9.4 points, 6.6 assists and two steals in 23 minutes in Orlando this month.
Pressey was a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award given to the best point guard in the nation last season while averaging 11.9 points and seven assists per game as a junior. He finished one assist shy of the second highest single season mark for assists in SEC history.
