MANILA, Philippines – Letran Knights’ back-up guard Franz Dysam has survived the shocking shooting incident that rocked the NCAA community last night.
Dysam is now in stable condition according to the official statement released by Letran to the media on Sunday. While he managed to survive six gunshot wounds, his girlfriend Joanne Sordan was declared dead on arrival at the San Juan Medical Center.
“Franz is conscious and is already aware of the passing of his girlfriend, Joanne. Like a gallant knight, Franz protected his girlfriend during the incident that got him six gunshot wounds. While only one shot was received by his girlfriend, it was too fatal that she was declared DOA by the hospital where they were first brought. Their three-month old child is safe,†the statement said.

The statement also added that Dysam’s mother has arrived from Cebu and that the wounded Knight is scheduled for operation tomorrow to remove four bullets in his body.
Letran officials decided not to disclose the hospital where Dysam was transferred for security reasons. Two police officers and Letran personal security were deployed to ensure the cager’s safety.
“The investigation is still ongoing although there is already lead being looked by the investigators handling the case. Said lead, as advised by the investigation body, cannot be disclosed yet,†the statement also added.
The CCTV footage that captured the fatal shooting incident is already under custody of the police investigators to determine the identity of the gunmen.
The Letran community assured Dysam their full support providing all assistance, including moral and spiritual to fast track his recovery and the resolution of the case.
