Highlanders post another WGAP sweep

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Tagaytay Highlands overpowered its rivals in all fronts at home and came away with another sweep of all divisions in the fifth leg of the 2013 Champion Infinity WGAP Circuit at Tagaytay Midlands in Tagaytay recently.

Unlike in their sweep of the third leg at Forest Hills last month where they won no more than three points, however, the Highlanders completely dominated the field this time, beating Alabang, 143-137, for the Class A crown, routing Sta. Elena, 143-131, for the Class B plum, and blasting Camp Aguinaldo, 146-134, for the Class C diadem.

Rosalie Heo shot 40 Modified Stableford points in windy day, Karen Buenaventura made a 35 and Farah Imperial and Hee Kyung Jun added 34 apiece for the hosts’ 143 output in the premier class of the annual event presented by Champion Infinity.

Alabang drew a 36 from Lorna Tabuena, a pair of 34s from Jocelyn Garcia and Ana Luisa Mendoza and a 33 from Marilyn Reyes for a 137, nipping Camp Aguinaldo for runner-up honors in the two-day tournament organized by Women’s Golf Association of the Phils.

Canlubang, with Colo Ventosa firing a 37, assembled a 135 for fourth while Villamor, led by individual winner Harmie Constantino’s 38 points, made a 135 for fifth followed by Forest Hills (128), Sta. Elena (125) and Orchard (118) in that order.

Eun Sun Lee sizzled with 43 points to lead Highlands’ charge in Class B. Rebecca Albert added a 36 while Catherine Borja and Lilibeth De Villa chipped in 33 and 31, respectively, to complete the 12-point victory over Sta. Elena, which made a 131.
