MANILA, Philippines - Sacha Feliciano humbled her male rivals to emerge the overall champion in the fourth leg of the 2013 Coca-Cola Karting Super Series at the short but high-speed Kart Track Boomland in Pasay City.
Feliciano used her aggressiveness to dominate the field and sweep the qualifying, pre-final and final races as she captured both the ROK senior and ROK overall crowns of the event.
Will all karters slowing down on a slightly wet track in the final race, Feliciano still managed to break away from the pack before wrapping the 21-lap race in 13 minutes, 6.344 seconds, almost 26 seconds ahead of the rest.
Feliciano, back in the fold of top racing coach Edgen Dy-Liacco, thus copped both the ROK senior and ROK overall over CJ Tsui and Bobby Domingo.
Cebuano Jette Calderon marked his comeback with a fourth place finish in the ROK senior division with fellow Cebu bet and current frontrunner Daniel Miranda of Cebuana Lhuillier finishing fifth.
Raymond Cudala of Tough Gear Racing likewise turned in a fourth place overall to emerge the ROK Junior champion over Wayne Darvin of Total Racing.
Top favorite SEAOIL-DC-Kilton karter Gabe Cabrera and AUTS Racing’s Brian Thorp placed third and fourth, respectively, in the event sponsored by Coca-Cola Philippines and Yokohama, and sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.
Darvin went on to claim the ROK Clubman title over Cabrera and Thorp.
Mary Allison Julian of One Racing copped her first win with an upset over Yvana Carangan of AUTS Racing in the Formula SL Expert class while Raul Barretto reigned supreme in the SQ Expert division over runner-up Michael Jordan, with Raymond Bustamante Jr., Paulo Ferrer and Jerry Choi taking the next three places.
Philip Lao, on the other hand, ruled the SQ Veteran class over Jordan and Choi.
