MANILA, Philippines - Moto riders get a feel of a new track that underwent a major facelift the last few weeks as they vie in the NAMSSA National Motocross Development Program leg Sunday at the Speedworld MX track at SM Bicutan in Parañaque City.
NAMSSA has recently implemented major changes to modernize the Speedworld Motocross Circuit to conform with FIM standards, installing and completing the first phase of a new state-of-the-art sprinkler system over the weekend to address the dust conditions particularly during dry-weather races.
NAMSSA has also completed the bikes’ take-off turf behind the starting gate that rendered it at par with the starting apparatus being used in world-level motocross events.
Riders will have the privilege of experiencing the new innovations this Sunday which will also mark the debut of the Honda XRM class, a one-make event for underbone-motocross riders.
The field includes members of the triumphant Philippine motocross team that competed in the second leg of the FIM Asia Motocross Championship in Malaysia last month.
“The recent innovations to the Speedworld track was carried out to provide our motorcycle sports athletes with the proper facilities that will enable them to develop themselves into world-class athletes,†said NAMSSA president Macky Carapiet.
Other backers of the event, sanctioned by the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission, are SM City Bicutan, Repsol, Asia Brewery Inc., Otto Shoes, Yamaha Motor Philippines Inc., Suzuki Philippines Inc., Honda Philippines Inc., OAS, JBS, GCG Pipes, Shaders Glass & Aluminum Products, Topmaster, Danna Trading, Foilacar, the City of Puerto Princesa and the City of Parañaque.
