MANILA, Philippines - John Chebii, Julius Kiptalan and Joel Cheprwony dominated their local rivals to complete a Kenyan sweep of the top three places while Joan Jepkorir outclassed the ladies side in the Manila Bay Clean-Up run last Sunday.
Chebil, Kiptalan and Cheprwony came in mere seconds apart to claim the podium finishes in the 21 km race while Jepkorir crossed the wire one hour ahead of Lee Anne Escano and Nyla Bautista.
Josphat Too, Allud Kering, and Philip Tabut took the top three places in the 10 km event while Flordeliza Donces, Luisa Raterta and Mischelle Gilbuena ruled the women’s division.
Rafael Poliquit, Mervic Guarte and Oscar Miguel Mapalo reigned in the 5 km division while Dalyn Carmen, Catherine Bristol and Michelle Spielberg topped the women’s category.
Michael Bacong, Gilbert Laido, and Winly Maulas copped the top three places in the 5 km race with Nalyn Raterta, Mary Ann Dela and Mae Ann Gongob ruling the distaff side.
The 2013 Manila Bay Clean-up Run was a project of Manila Broadcasting Company, in cooperation with the cities of Manila and Pasay, with support from Globe Telecom, Golden Oats, 2Go, Alpen Libe, Cobra Energy Drink, M. Lhuillier, Lomotil and Islands Souvenirs.
