Cabrera, Jackes lead karting cast
MANILA, Philippines - Young karters brace for another tough battle as they slug it out for top honors in the third leg of the Coca-Cola Karting Super Series tomorrow at the challenging Kart Track Boomland in Pasay City.
SEAOIL-DC-Kilton karter Gabe Cabrera and Flynn Jackes of Tuason Racing Kids head the elite cast in the event with the former shooting for back-to-back wins in the ROK Junior and the ROK Clubman divisions. Cabrera is also seeking his third win in row in the Formula SL Novice.
Jackes, on the other hand, hopes to repeat as champion in the Formula Cadet Expert and Mini-ROK classes.
Back-to-back winner Larco Rafael Cortez of Formula-E Racing, meanwhile, banners the field in the Formula Cadet Novice class, which also includes Tuason Racing Kids’ Julia delos Angeles and Jarred Kim, and Bobby Redpath of AUTS Racing.
Still, focus will be on Cabrera and Jackes, who had been fierce rivals for the Mini-ROK crown in the event sponsored by Coca-Cola Philippines and Yokohama and sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.
Cabrera made quite an impression in the Batangas leg where he challenged ROK senior karter Daniel Miranda of Cebuana Lhuillier as he primed up for the Junior Karter of the Year and the Clubman Karter crowns.
Others tipped to crowd Miranda and Cabrera in the ROK Junior are Raymond Cudala of Tough Gear Racing and Jaz Monzones of Formula-E Racing while Lian Linao and Wayne Darvin of Total Racing are the other karters to watch in the ROK Clubman class.
Others seeing action in the Formula SL Novice category are AT Tuason of Tuason Racing Kids, Mark Francis Tanlu of AUTS Racing, Kevin Ty, Sean Smith and David Papa.
