Difuntorum, Zamora, Alindogan lead PSL to Singapore meet
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Swimming League and Diliman Preparatory School are sending a 54-strong delegation which includes veteran and upcoming swimmers to the Singapore Swimming Championships slated in Singapore next month.
The swimming venue is the Singapore Island Country Club where Olympic champion Michael Phelps and the USA team acclimatized for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The PSL, which doesn’t depend on government support, is funding the participation of nine coaches and 18 swimmers.
“We are sending potential swimmers as an incentive for their good performance and we thank private individuals that help us make this possible,†PSL president Susan Papa said. “Our aim is to be able to send swimmers, despite our meager resources, to international competitions for free to prepare them for big meets like the Asian Games and Universiade.â€
The age groupers will be led by 12-year-old bets McTracy John Alindogan, a Palarong Pambansa gold medalist in the elementary division, and Sean Terence Zamora. They recently surpassed the Quadruple A times based on the American Motivational Standard Time in all their events.
Jason Ryan Difuntorum, 15, also surpassed the AAA standard in the 50m butterfly with a time of 27 seconds.
Head of delegation is PSL president and former Sen. Nikki Coseteng.
