MANILA, Philippines - Unbeaten Team Socceroo overpowered Agila FC, 5-2, to move one win away from completing a record sweep of the Second Division in the United Football League at the Emperador Stadium in McKinley Hill Sunday night.
Nam Hi Won unloaded a brace – on the 26th and 47th – to lead the Socceroo booters’ charge in the match en route to posting their 15 straight victory.
Although Team Socceroo is already assured of its promotion to the First Division next season, it is still expected to go all-out for a victory against Laos FC in the league’s final playdate on Thursday to complete the sweep.
A goal by Korean Jeon Shink Seok on the seventh and Nam on the 26th sent Team Socceroo ahead early, 2-0. But Olayemi Victor Bakare blasted a brilliant rocket on the 39th to make it 2-1 game for Socceroo at halftime.
Nam struck again early in the second half then prolific Korean striker Lee Jeong Woo scored on the 48th to make it 4-1 for Socceroo.
Bakare came through again on the 56th but Jude Duruachazie scored on the 62nd to seal the victory for Socceroo.
Lee, meanwhile, recorded his 13th goal, two ahead of Jerome Cuyos of Dolphins United FC with 11 and three ahead Dibi Pascal of Forza FC with 10 in the race for players with most goals.
Agila FC is currently in third with 27 match points on nine wins against seven defeats but will slide to No. 4 if Forza FC, currently with 24 points, beats Union Internacional Manila tonight due to better goal differential.
Union is sure to end up No. 2 regardless of its final match result.
In the other result, Manila All-Japan and Laos FC fought to a 1-1 count.
