Tugade, Roberto top Juico Cup
MANILA, Philippines - Fininia Tugade scored 50 points from a gross 88 to capture the overall championship while Ronald Roberto shot 44 points and nipped Hubert Lim in the countback to clinch the Class A crown in the third Felipe S. Juico Memorial Cup at Wack Wack Golf and Country Club’s West Course last Saturday.
Matthew Dybuncio bested Ian Villacorta by four to cop the Class B title with 44 PAL points, Jon Virgil Angeles topped Class C with 47 for a two-point win over John Perfecto in the 18-hole tournament held in honor of the late president of Wack Wack (1972-73) and hosted by the Juico family, headed by Wack Wack president Philip Ella Juico and PCSO chairperson Margie Juico.
Rey Guevara took the seniors division plum with 47 points from a gross of 96, beating Tonichi Tuason by two in the event sponsored by Toki Japanese Restaurant. LARES, Shell, Splash Corp.,Globe, Security Bank Corp., Pascual Laboratories, G&W Club Shares, Chronos Watches, Duty Free Phils., Amb. Antonio Cabangon-Chua, Camp John Hay, the Manor, Gourdo’s, Sol Marina Resort, Boracay, Sterling Phils., Phil Wine Merchants, The Plaza and San Miguel Corp.
Isa Velayo fired a gross 97 worth 41 points and edged Evelyn Sy, who shot a gross 101, in the countback to rule the ladies category while Liza Lopez won the grand raffle prize in the tournament that drew 131 participants and backed by hole-in-one sponsors CATS Motors, Club Cars, Dynamic Sports and Toby’s Sports.
Jaycee Dee made 40 points, Richard Ng shot 39, Eduardo Ducusin carded 44, Philip Yao turned in a 43 and Andrea Dybuncio churned out 40 points to place third in Classes A, B, C, seniors and ladies divisions, respectively.
