MANILA, Philippines - Rene Silverio and his Japanese expat partner Uetani Koji combined for a best-ball net 15-under-par 57 to top the seniors division in the recent members monthly tournament for May of the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite.
Silverio and Koji fired a net 26 in the front nine and came home with a 31 to finish ahead of Rodolfo Nueva and Frank Gutierrez in the 20-team division.
While Wilbert Uy and Richard Neish topped Class C with a net 60, the rest of the divisions were ruled by all-Korean squad in the 18-hole tourney played at the Aoki course, one of the four championship courses at the country’s biggest golf complex.
In the Class B division which drew the most number of entries, Sam Hyun-kim and Bong Sub-cho set the tourney’s low net of 54 but ended up just one stroke ahead of Wendy Go and Joel Ortillo.
The Class A crown went to Youn Hwan-Kim and Myung Su-an whose net 61 was one better that the 62s of Toshio Do-Yoshikazu Onodera, Kim You kim-Lee Tong-hwa and Ryoo Si-kun-Cho Han-pyo.
The ladies division was won by Park Soon-in and Cho Jeong-sook who finished two strokes better than Kim Ju-yeon and Kwak Kui-bok with their 53.
In the member-guest side event, Ernie Cortes and Pete Faytaren and Elmer Chua-Felipe Lee wound up tied for first with 60s but the former won in the countback.
