Valley dominates jungolf interclub

MANILA, Philippines - Valley pulled off a big surprise by topping two of the three divisions in the ICTSI-JGFP Jungolf Interclub golf championships at the Mt. Malarayat Golf and Country Club in Lipa, Batangas recently.

Kim Tae-woo, Daniella Uy, Park Jin-Young and Lester Lagman combined for a 54-hole aggregate and dominated Division I (13-17 years) while Aidric Chan, Carl Corpus, Sophia Blanco and Leandro Bagtas came through with 461 to likewise outclass the field in Division 2 (9 to 12 years).

Navy proved too tough for their rivals in Division 3 (6-under and  7-8) of the event that capped the biggest ever summer circuit for jungolfers staged by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippine with the major backing of International Container Terminal Services Inc., Philippine Golf Foundation. Pancake House Group of Companies was another sponsor through Teriyaki Boy  and Sizzlin Pepper. The other sponsors are Golf Depot McDonalds and Mt. Malarayat.

Navy also posted a runner-up finish in Division 1 and placed third and fourth in Division 2 to become the second best performing delegation in the Interclub that drew 17 teams from 15 clubs around the country.

Sisters Annika and Anya Cedo led the individual champions by topping Class B and Class F of girls play.

The other winners were Jonas Magcalayo for boys and Daniella Uy for girls in Class A, Kim Tae Woo in boys Class B, Aidric Chan and Sam Bruce in Class C, Josh Jorge and Sophia Blanco in Class D,  Sean Granada and Samantha Dizon in Class E and Andrew Chua in boys Class F.

The fancied Ayala Greenfield team of Bruce, Jorge, Junior World champ Jed Dy and Laia Barro settled for second in Division 2 while Anya Cedo powered Army to a runner-up finish in Division 3.
