MANILA, Philippines - The Isuzu D-MAX multi-sports team put on a strong performance in various events the last two months with JM Mapacpac and Edward Tuazon topping their respective divisions in the Giant XC Cup MTB Marathon at the La Mesa Dam Reserve.
Mapacpac ruled the 20-29 years old category while Tuazon flashed fine form to dominate the field in the 50-and-above category of the cross-country mountain bike enduro.
Jomer Lim, another mainstay of Isuzu D-Max team, finished second in the 30-39 division.
The D-MAX squad also ruled the Los Baños Rock Garden Downhill Race in Mt. Makiling in Laguna last April with Frederick Farr topping the experts class and Jing Malabanan winning the 40-49 division.
Farr also took the Four Cross Professionals title in the Nuvali Dirt Weekend Invitational Cup in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. Jerich Farr and Malabanan finished second in the Four Cross Professionals, which tested the field’s riding skills in various off-road cycling activities, and the 40-49 categories, respectively.
Formerly called the Isuzu D-MAX cycling team, which used to exclusively compete in mountain biking and downhill racing events, the squad has since ventured into multisport competitions after taking in multi-sports athletes like Matteo Guidicelli.
The popular celebrity topped the 22-24 years-old class in the recent XTerra Off-Road Triathlon Series in a test of endurance (1.5km swim, 35km bike and 10k run) in Liloan, Cebu recently.
Jesus del Carmen, another D-MAX team mainstay, topped the 15-19 category, netting the duo berths in the event’s world championship slated in October in Hawaii.
Providing the team a big lift in various competitions is Isuzu D-MAX pickup, which has transported both the athletes and their sports equipment to various locations.
