Beermen seek ABL finals vs Slammers

Game tonight (Nimibutr Stadium, Thailand)

8 p.m. (Manila time) – Sports Rev Thailand vs San Miguel Beermen

MANILA, Philippines - The San Miguel Beermen seek to finish off stubborn semifinal rival Sports Rev Thailand Slammers and gain their expected place in the finals of the Asean Basketball League tonight at Nimibutr Stadium in Thailand.

The Beermen moved to within a victory of a second finals appearance after hacking out a 70-62 win in Tuesday night’s Game Three in the same venue in Bangkok. They will gun for the clincher at 8 p.m.

“We have to be composed during the game because (in Game Three) there was a lot of bad decision-making (on our part) and our emotions were too high. We committed a lot of technical (fouls) and that’s something we have to arrest,” said SMB mentor and newly adjudged ABL “Coach of the Year” Leo Austria.

The Beermen felt they were on the receiving end of “questionable calls” in the preceding away game.

“We have to be focused because I believe that if we are, no amount of distraction can derail us,” Austria said.

After dropping the series opener at home 60-62, the Beermen bounced back strong with a 91-60 rout in Game Two and followed it up with the eight-point triumph in the third match.
