MANILA, Philippines - Tony Valera fashioned out an impressive gross of three-over 75 to upstage Butch Brodett and capture the crown in the Manila Southwoods’ Seniors Trimester Birthday Bash golf tournament sponsored by Brainmaster at the Masters course in Carmona, Cavite recently.
An 8-handicapper, Valera finished with a net 67 and nipped Brodett, who shot a gross 78 for a net 68, by one for the Class A plum in the 18-hole tournament among the posh club’s senior chapter members and their guests aged 55-years and above.
Kim Eun Soo fired a gross 79 for a net 61 to post a four-shot victory over Raul Olea, who made a net 65 from a gross 79, in Class B of the event organized by the Southwoods Seniors Chapter, headed by president Jose Cedo and vice president and tournament chairman Paco Gonzalez and backed up by hole-in-one sponsor Yamaha by Kart Plaza.
Jaime Cacho, on the other hand, ran away with the Class C crown with a net 58 from a gross 92 for an 11-stroke romp over Jake Buenaflor, who turned in a gross 95 for a net 69 in the tournament supported by annual hole sponsors Asia Pacific Golf Corp. (APGC), Brainmaster for Senior Moments, Boracay Sands Hotel, Camp John Hay Golf Club, Camp John Hay Coffee Services, Electro-Mechanical Products, Inc. and Fabriduct.
Rod Pepito likewise cruised to a five-shot win in Super Seniors, carding a net 66 from a gross 100 and beating Cedo, who had a gross 95 for a net 71, by five in the event also supported by I3 Technologies Corp., Red Eagle Lending Investors, Inc. (RELI), Romago, Inc., Rudy Project, Sherwood Hills Golf Club, The Manor@Camp John Hay, Tocoms Phils. and Warbird Security Agency, Inc.
