Espinosa, Manduriao win Head junior titles

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Hannah Espinosa and Erika Manduriao bested their separate foes to win titles in the sixth leg of the 2013 Head Junior Satellite Circuit national tennis age-group tournament in Dumaguete City recently at the Praxevilla tennis courts.

Espinosa pocketed the girls’ singles 18-under title by winning over Erika Manduriao in the championship round, 7-5, 6-2, to lead all winners of the annual junior tennis national circuit supported by Smart Sports, Chris Sports, Meralco, Maynilad, Toalson and Head.

“I put a lot of energy in the first set and I’m happy to win another title in this tournament,” said Espinosa, a National University standout who also clinched the girls’ 18-under singles crown in the Cebu leg recently.

Manduriao bounced back in the girls’ singles 16-under class by rallying past Zethley Mae Alferez, 5-7, 6-3, 10-4, to win the title.

In the 14-under girls’ finals, Cebu bet Zethley Mae Alferez defeated Gennifer Pagente, 6-0, 6-2, to win the title, making up for her early loss in the 16-under class.
