Joey Villar - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Spanish striker Rufino Familiar Sanchez unloaded four goals as he powered leader Stallion FC to a 6-1 demolition of Army FC in the First Division of the United Football League at the McKinley Hill grounds in Taguig City.

Sanchez rained the Armymen with goals on the 14th, 34th, 61st and 85th minute as the Stallion booters remained on top of the heap with 33 match points on 11 victories against a loss.

Nathaniel Andrew Alquiros and Reuben Doctora, Jr. delivered the two other goals for Stallion FC on the 25th and 77th, respectively.

Army, which drew its lone goal from Ricardo Becite on the 48th, remained in the bottom of the pack with four points on a win and a draw against 10 defeats.

Brothers James and Phil Younghusband took over as Loyola Meralco Sparks trounced Air Force FC, 2-0, to keep the Stallion booters within striking distance with 29 points on nine triumphs and two deadlocks against a loss.

James struck on the 17th to give the Sparks the early edge before Phil came down with the hammer on the 79th to seal the victory.

Airmen lost Antonio Albor Jr. in the closing minutes after he was tossed out on a red card.

Loyola thus overtook Global FC in the standing as the defending League champion slid to No. 3 with 28 points on nine wins and a deadlock against a loss.

Air Force had six points on two wins against 10 defeats.
