MANILA, Philippines – The University of Perpetual Help Altas and the Lyceum Pirates bounced back big losses with convincing wins in the ongoing 19th Fr. Martin Summer Cup basketball tournament at the Trinity University of Asia gymnasium in Quezon City.
Juneric Baloria banged in 17 points for the Altas, who won over the Fatima University Phoenix, 57-53, while Shaquille Alanes provided 20 points for the Pirates as they prevailed over the Patts College of Aeronautics Sea Horses, 70-57.
The Altas, who now have a 3-1 win-loss card in Group A, resumed their winning ways after suffering a 72-74 setback to the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers.
The Pirates picked up their first win in two games in Group A, and after they bowed to Ateneo-B, 74-80, in overtime.
In the juniors divison, the University of Santo Tomas Tiger Cubs (2-3) defeated University of the Philippines Integrated School, 64-63, while the Fatima University Junior Phoenix stopped the Perpetual Help Altalettes, 52-51.
In the women’s side, the UST Tigresses edged Fatima University, 39-26.
Commissioner Robert de la Rosa said the top two finishers in each bracket will advance to the semifinals.
