MANILA, Philippines - San Sebastian and Letran collide today for a quarterfinal berth in Group A while National U guns for a sweep of Group B against Perpetual Help as the Shakey’s V-League Season 10 First Conference enters its final elims week at The Arena in San Juan City.

The Lady Stags and the Lady Knights find themselves on the brink after dropping their first two games in the single round elims, making their 4 p.m. encounter a do-or-die match for a spot in the next round of the two-group, 10-team tournament sponsored by Shakey’s.

But San Sebastian looks better on paper with Thai resident import Jeng Bualee and former MVP Suzanne Roces backstopping the squad that bowed to UST and Ateneo both in four. In contrast, Letran, reinforced by Thai Patcharee Sangmuang, Melissa Ogana and Mellisa Cu, succumbed to La Salle-Dasmariñas and Ateneo in straight sets.

But in a virtual sudden death, no team holds a distinct advantage with the Lady Knights expected to go flat out against the well-reinforced SSC team raring to redeem itself from those setbacks.

The Lady Bulldogs, meanwhile, try to match the Lady Eagles’ sweep of the Group A elims as they square off with the Lady Altas in Group B action at 2 p.m.

NU racked up three 3-1 victories over Arellano, Adamson and University of San Carlos in its most explosive start in the league backed by Mikasa and Accel. But the Bustillos-based squad faces a tougher rival in Perpetual, which stumbled to newcomer Arellano side, 3-1, last week.

Meanwhile, the NU-Perpetual match will be shown tomorrow starting at 1 p.m. on GMA News TV Channel 11 with the SSC-Letran duel to be aired on Thursday, also at 1 p.m., according to the organizing Sports Vision.
