Karting series goes to Batangas
MANILA, Philippines - The country’s top karters gear up for a showdown as they vie for the crown in the second leg of the Coca-Cola Karting Super Series at the 3.7km Batangas Racing Circuit this Sunday.
Daniel Miranda of Cebuana Lhuillier, 15, guns for his second straight triumph after humbling his more experienced rivals in his very first race as a senior karter to sweep the ROK senior and ROK overall crowns recently.
Miranda, brimming with confidence on a new kart from Kart Plaza, dominated the previous races to earn the respect of his fellow karters in the event sponsored by Coca-Cola Philippines and Yokohama, and sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines.
He is also out to repeat his opening leg feat where he swept the time trials, the qualifying heat, the pre-final and the final races although he expects tougher challenge from Bobby Domingo of Formula E Racing, Estefano Rivera of Tough Gear Racing, CJ Tsui also of Formula E Racing and lady karter Sacha Feliciano this time.
Others fancied bets are Jaz Monzones of Formula E Racing in the ROK Junior, Brian Thorp of AUTS Racing in the Formula SL Expert and SEAOIL-DC-Kilton karter Gabe Tayao-Cabrera in both the ROK Clubman and Formula SL Novice divisions.
Focus will also be on the SQ Karting race with Oliver Sotto seeking his second straight win in both the SQ Novice and Veteran classes even as Paulo Ferrer shoots for the SQ Expert division title against Raul Barreto.
