PNoy declares August Philippine wushu month

MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno S. Aquino III has declared  August  2013 as “Philippine Wushu Month” in support of the country’s hosting, through the Wushu Federation Philippines, of the seventh Asian Junior Wushu Championship slated in Makati City from Aug. 8 to 12.

Through the Proclamation No. 554 dated Feb. 28, President Aquino enjoined all departments, agencies and instrumentalities of the national government, including state universities and colleges (SUCs), government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCCs) and local government units (LGUs) to “support and extend the necessary assistance in the observance of the “Philippine Wushu Month”.

“This is a big boost to our efforts to ramp up Philippine Wushu to an even  higher level. As in WFP’s organizing the Asian Wushu Championship way back in 1996, we are leaving no stone unturned to make the Asian Junior Wushu Championship a rousing success – a showcase of the organizational acumen and management savvy of the Filipino,” said WFP president Tan She Ling.
