NCRFA invitational to kick off in Pasig

MANILA, Philippines - The fifth National Capital Region Football Association (NCRFA) Invitational Cup 2013 unwraps Saturday at the Rizal High School in Pasig City with 10 teams vying for top honors.

Defending champion Sunken Garden United heads the third division football league which also includes Pasig United, Laos FC, Lions FC, Fil-Chi FC, Dragons FC, Ilongo United FC, Mondoñedo Internationale FC, Philippine Normal University-Rizal FC and Masbate FC.

“In behalf of the City of Pasig, I would like to welcome the holding of the NCRFA Invitational Cup at the Rizal High School Football Ground. May this contribute to the sports for all program of the city government,” said Mayor Robert Eusebio.

Games start at 1:30 p.m.

“This tournament is a good avenue for players to hone their skills and get the basic rudiments of football. My career as an Azkal started with this tournament,” said Misagh Bahadoran of the Philippine Azkals who started out with the Sunken Garden United.

NCRFA president Roland Tulay said the tournament will further boost the development of football in the country, especially to young professionals.

“Consistent with its mandate to provide a venue for competitions, the NCRFA is proud to announce this year’s edition of this annual tournament featuring several of the established and developmental clubs in Metro Manila,” said Tulay.
