MANILA, Philippines - Local junior golf received a welcome boost with the Philippine Golf Foundation coming in to augment an already hectic summer circuit for Pinoy kids.
The PGF Junior Masters series comprised of four regional elimination legs and a grand finals will be included in the ongoing JGFP-ICTSI schedule.
The four elimination legs are April 29-30 at the Camp John Hay course in Baguio, May 2-3 at the Cebu Country Club, May 7-8 at Splendido in Batangas and May 9-10 in Del Monte, Bukidnon.
The top four winners in each division will advance to the national finals on May 24-27 at the Alabang Country Club.
Qualifiers from the Visayas and Mindanao will be given free airfare when they compete in Manila for the finals.
“We are definitely elated by this show of support by the PGF as even jungolfers in the provinces can look forward to more competitive tournaments at their home turfs in the coming months,†said Luigi Tabuena, president of the organiing Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines.
Tabuena and PGF chairman Cesar Buenaventura recently signed the agreement for a collaborative effort in promoting junior golf in as many locations in the country.
The new series is actually a revival of a major event in the JGFP calendar long ago where the top performer was even sent to the international finals held in Buffalo, New York.
